REPORTED SPEECH/INDIRECT SPEECHDirect speech ( kalimat langsung ) merupakan kalimat yang diucapkan langsung oleh si pembicara utama. Pada umumnya penulisannya terdapat tanda petik-nya.

Penggunaan adverb of time menyesuaikan waktu disaat percakapan itu terjadi.
Example :
He said, " i am watching a movie now" ( Direct speech )
She said she was watching a movie at that time. ( indirect speech )

~Struktur kalimat langsung diatas berupa pernyataan positif dengan menggunakan tenses "present continuous."
~ "said" => reporting verb bentuk simple past, maka daripada itu Noun clause yang digunakan ikut berubah. Yang awalnya direct speech -nya menggunakan struktur present continuous tense menjadi struktur past continuous tense.
"at that time " => keterangan waktu mengalami perubahan karena diucapkan di tempo waktu yang berbeda.

- Indirect speech, which is also knows as reported speech, is reporting what someone else said or wrote but not using the same words as what the person said or wrote.

How to change direct speech into indirect speech?
There are some rules to do that:
1. Indirect speech doesn’t put the words of the speaker in quotation marks.
2. Indirect always use conjunction “that”. This conjunction is always used between reporting verb and reported speech.
Example: Direct speech: Jenny said, “I went to Bali yesterday”
Indirect speech: Jenny said that she had gone to Bali the previous day.
3. If the reporting verb is either present tense or future tense, the tense of the reported speech will not change. But, if the reporting verb is past tense, the tense of the reported speech will change.
Example: Direct speech: Jenny says, “I went to Bali yesterday”
Indirect speech: Jenny says that she went to Bali the previous day. (there’s no tense changing)
Example: Direct speech: Jenny said, “I went to Bali yesterday”
Indirect speech: Jenny said that she had gone to Bali the previous day. (tense changed)
4. The pronoun will be changed.
Example: Direct speech: Jenny said, “I went to Bali yesterday”
Indirect speech: Jenny said that she had gone to Bali the previous day.
5. If there’s time signal mentioned in the reported speech it will be changed in indirect speech. The example of time changing: now into then, today into that day, yesterday into the previous day, and tomorrow into the next day.
Example: Direct speech: Jenny said, “I went to Bali yesterday”
Indirect speech: Jenny said that she had gone to Bali the previous day.
Because the question is in imperative form, I will give how to change direct speech to indirect speech for imperative sentence.
Imperative sentence can express a request, an order, a suggestion, a prohibition, or an advice.
To change imperative direct speech into indirect speech, there are some certain verbs will be put in reported verb instead of said, they are request, order, suggest, forbid, advise or tell.
For example: Direct speech: The boss said to him “close the door!”
Indirect speech: the boss ordered him to close the door.
There are some things you should notice in changing imperative direct speech to indirect speech:
1. You should be able to identify whether the imperative sentence is a request, an order, a suggestion, a prohibition, or an advice.
2. Imperative indirect speech doesn’t use conjunction “that” between reported verb and reported speech. It uses conjunction “to” instead of “that” because imperative sentence means you make someone does something as what you said.
So, here is the answer to the question:

Because the sentence is a prohibition, I will use forbid as the reported verb.
Indirect speech: the teacher forbade Rio to put his book on his/her table.
You also can use tell as the reported verb. It will be:
